Founded in 1883, Stetson University is a collegiate institution based in central Florida. The university is named for its benefactor and hat manufacturer John B. Stetson, and its motto stands as ‘For God and Truth’.

The three campuses of Stetson are based in Gulfport, Tampa and a primary campus in DeLand for undergraduate and graduate programmes. The College of Law dates back to 1900 and was the first law school in Florida, and ranks among the best law schools nationwide for trial advocacy and legal writing. Its satellite campus in Tampa also shares space with an active court, Florida's Second District Court of Appeal.

The College of Arts and Sciences is comprised of 19 academic departments and several interdisciplinary programmes. At the School of Music at DeLand performances are a held at the historic Lee Chapel, which can seat 700 people and contains a Beckerath organ and two Steinway concert grand pianos. Also hosted at DeLand is the School of Business Administration, which is accredited by the AACSB International in both business and accounting courses dating back to 1897. 

Athletics teams are known as the Hatters, and compete in the NCAA Division I. There are eight men’s sports programmes and ten women’s, including American football which was reinstated in 2013, the same year that women’s lacrosse was added. Basketball and volleyball teams play at the Edmunds Centre, which can seat up to 5,000 people.

Founded in 1970 by student John Fraser, the model United States Senate at Stetson is the longest running project of its kind. Annually in March students from across the nation attend this senate to learn and perform correct procedure, and the event regularly invites sitting US Senators.

Among the alumni of Stetson are two former Florida governors, Doyle Carlton Sr. and David Sholtz, fomer US senator and administrator of the US Veterans Administration Max Cleland, the late actor Ted Cassidy and the president of Delta Air Lines Glen Hauenstein.

Ref.: 534613 Work type: Full-time Department: School of Public Health (22400) Categories: Senior Research Staff & Post-doctoral Fellow Applications are invited for appointments as Post-doctoral Fellow (several posts) in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences, School of Public Health (Ref.: 534613), to commence as soon as possible, on a one- to three-year temporary term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biology or related disciplines, preferably with experience in virology research. They should have solid knowledge of chemistry and biology, and an excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese. Experience in bioinformatic data analysis including microbiome, virome and environmental metagenomics would be preferred. They should be logical, detail-oriented and self-motivated. Preference will be given to those with experience in virus transmission. The appointees will lead a research team to conduct data analysis for different types of data, including genomic/metagenomic sequencing data, ecological surveillance data, as well as development of analysis pipeline. The applied research at SIT brings our rich industry experience and technical skills into our work, creating a better physical environment where learning and innovation take place. We work with teaching programmes and innovation projects to improve the skills of our students and strengthen and energize our industry and the wider community. In collaboration with NEA, the Energy Efficiency Technology Centre (EETC) at Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) aims to be the leading technology innovation centre to support local industries on energy efficiency initiatives. EETC aspires to promote and develop energy efficiency capability and new technologies in the local energy ecosystem for industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities Work with EETC team members and companies on energy assessment projects in industrial systems Assist and/or co-develop training in energy efficiency in industrial systems to adult learners and students Mentor students in energy assessment projects to enhance their technical problem-solving skills. The learning activities may be classroom training, laboratory classes, projects. Development of learning activities / materials and assessment of students may form part of the responsibilities. Support research and industrial project work undertaken by the university, where opportunity arises. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure smooth execution of the energy audits. For those hired at senior levels, management responsibilities may be included. Manage and administer training programmes at the Centre.  Job Requirements Have hands-on experience in energy assessments and energy efficiency projects in some of the following areas: Industrial systems such as: Chilled Water System, Cooling and Refrigeration System, Mechanical Ventilation System, Heating system, Process Separation, Process Heat Integration, Process Compressor System, Steam and Condensate System, Compressed Air System, Motor Driven System, Power Distribution System and Electric Motors, Lighting System, Renewable Energy System, Process Specific system etc. Have a Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Have at least 5 years of project work experience in energy efficiency. Certified Energy Efficiency Opportunity Assessor or Singapore Certified Energy Manager will be advantageous. Licensed LEW (Technician grade or higher) will be advantageous for one of the positions. *Note: The incumbent will be appointed as Research Fellow / Research Engineer if successful.
