Vacancy Reference: 197374 Salary: Grade 8, £50,253 - £58,225 per annum. This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and has funding up to the 26th April 2031 in the first instance. The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint a talented and highly motivated Research Relationship Manager to join the £10 million Gambling Harms Research and Evidence Centre, funded by UKRI via a statutory levy on the gambling industry. The Centre is a collaboration between the Universities of Glasgow, Sheffield, Swansea and Kings College London. In addition, the Centre will oversee and support a wider consortium of Gambling Harms Research and Innovation Partnerships (GHRIPs) drawn from around 20 additional institutions and sits at the heart of a £50 million investment by UKRI into gambling harms. This is a senior managerial role with significant scope to influence the strategic and operational direction of an exciting national research centre which will address gambling harms by building a coordinated, independent, and evidence-led national research and policy infrastructure. The Centre will co-ordinate the activities of up to 20 GHRIPs (in the first instance), synthesise existing evidence, commission major new research projects focused on the social, economic, structural, and health-related drivers of gambling-related harm and build long‑term research capacity through training, secondments, event hosting and skills development. In this role you will work closely with the Executive Management Team to develop and deliver on the programme’s strategic objectives. Your focus will be on understanding and meeting the strategic needs of the wider research network (including GHRIPS and policy makers), fostering collaboration across institutions, supporting GHRIP grant acquisition and developing and implementing strategies to address research gaps in our knowledge of gambling related harms. This includes overseeing a grant funding programme of up to £2 million to be distributed by the Centre and co-developing funding strategies with GHRIPs for their own flexible funding programmes. You will work alongside a Programme Manager and be supported by a Programme Administrator and a Knowledge Exchange/Communications Lead, for whom you will have management responsibilities. A key part of the role is to promote and manage excellent working relationships within this highly interdisciplinary, cross-sector consortium and between the consortium and UKRI. The primary role involves developing and validating Hydrodynamic models to study performance of integrated floating breakwater and marine renewable energy. Responsibilities include calibrating simulations with experimental/numerical data, performance analysis, and contributing to interdisciplinary research on coastal protection, with an emphasis on delivering accurate and impactful modeling insights. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: 1. Wave Stochastic Analysis and Hydrodynamics Conduct advanced stochastic analysis of wave environments to evaluate the performance of floating structures. Analyze hydrodynamic behavior of floating breakwaters under varied sea conditions. 2. Hydrodynamic and Fluid Structure Interaction Modeling Perform Hydrodynamic simulations to optimize the design and performance of floating breakwaters. Develop models for stability assessment, structural integrity, and dynamic response of floating systems. 3. Connector Design Design and analyze mechanical connectors for the integration of multi-purpose floating breakwater systems, ensuring structural stability and durability. 4. Design and Integration Develop innovative designs for floating breakwaters that integrate wave energy converters (WECs) and, tidal energy systems. Optimize design configurations to maximize energy harnessing and wave attenuation. 5. Experimental Testing Plan and conduct physical model tests in wave basin to validate computational models. Analyze experimental data to improve and validate the floating breakwater design. 6. Research Documentation and Dissemination: Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations to disseminate findings to academic and industry stakeholders. Contribute to project proposals and progress updates for funding agencies. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. 7. Project Management Support: Ensure timely execution of project milestones Coordinate with external collaborators and manage data-sharing protocols. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements PhD/Master’s in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field. Job Description: Postdoctoral Fellow Duration: 12 months. Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join a multidisciplinary research project focused on the sustainable valorization of phosphate-rich mining waste through innovative comminution strategies. The successful candidate will play a leading role in advancing research on autogenous grinding as a low-energy alternative for liberating indurated phosphates stored in mining waste deposits (MATs). This project integrates mineralogical and mechanical characterization, pilot-scale testing, and advanced process simulation, with the objective of optimizing grinding performance and enhancing resource recovery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mineral processing, comminution modeling, and ore characterization, and will contribute to developing an integrated beneficiation strategy that reduces operational costs, and energy consumption. This research aligns with broader goals of promoting circular economy practices and technological innovation in the Moroccan phosphate mining sector. Area of Research: Sustainable mineral processing, with a focus on autogenous grinding and the valorization of indurated phosphate-rich waste rocks. Main responsibilities: Conduct a detailed literature review on autogenous grinding and phosphate-rich mining waste. Design and implement mechanical, mineralogical, and rheological characterizations of MATs. Select and dimension an appropriate autogenous mill for pilot testing. Lead the design and execution of lab-scale autogenous grinding trials based on experimental design. Contribute to the numerical modeling of beneficiation circuits (e.g., using USIMPAC or similar software). Analyze, interpret, and report the outcomes of simulations and pilot tests. Draft technical reports and scientific publications. Coordinate with internal researchers, external labs, and industrial partners. Candidate Profile: Required qualifications : PhD in Mineral Processing, Mining Engineering, Georesources Engineering, or related field. Proven experience in ore characterization techniques (mechanical, mineralogical, physical). Solid knowledge of comminution technologies and mineral beneficiation processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English or French. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
