Part time fixed term (0.8 FTE) contract , for 2 years available Exciting opportunity for an Associate Lecturer/Lecturer (Clinical Education) (Education-focused) to contribute to clinical education within the Discipline of Exercise and Sport Sciences and the Sydney School of Health Sciences Base Salary ranging from $89,831 - $151,328 + 17% superannuation ( Pro Rata) About the opportunity The Sydney School of Health Sciences is experiencing significant growth and investment as part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health's strategic vision. We are seeking an Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Clinical Education with expertise in Exercise and Sport Science and Exercise Physiology to contribute to high quality, practice oriented teaching that prepares graduates for contemporary health and clinical practice. This education focused role is expected to make a substantial contribution to clinical teaching and learning, design and evaluation with a strong emphasis on student coaching, skills development, and best practice client care in simulated and authentic work-based settings. The successful candidate will work closely with academic and clinical colleagues to deliver engaging, authentic learning experiences that support student success and workforce readiness. The role is expected to dedicate the majority of workload (typically up to 70% by agreement) to teaching and teaching related activity, including curriculum design, assessment, evaluation, and scholarly enhancement of clinical education practice. Clinical education may be delivered outside standard business hours. Applicants should be aware that this role involves early starts and late finishes due to the scheduling required for student-led clinic operations. About you A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (Exercise Physiology / Exercise and Sport Science or related field) minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience in Exercise Physiology/Exercise and Sport Science or related area current professional registration/accreditation with Exercise & Sport Science Australia (ESSA) as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) or Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES) demonstrated experience in clinical teaching and learning a developing and applied understanding of contemporary clinical education practices and effective curriculum design proven ability to work collaboratively as part of an academic and clinical education team commitment to excellence in teaching demonstrated ability to foster inclusive, equitable and respectful learning environments. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage research projects with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Support research activities in one or more of the following areas: i. Advanced welding and automation technologies for steel fabrication and construction ii. Experimental investigation of high-strength aluminium alloy structures iii. Development and testing of lightweight and long-span earth retaining and stabilising structures iv. AI-enabled structural analysis, optimisation and design tools for high-efficiency, low-carbon composite building systems Plan and conduct experimental work, including but not limited to: i. Material and component testing ii. Structural behaviour testing of steel and aluminium members/connections iii. Fabrication trials and validation of welded structural components iv. Data acquisition, instrumentation and monitoring during laboratory testing Perform numerical modelling and simulation, such as finite element modelling, parametric studies, and calibration against test data. Analyse experimental and numerical results, and prepare technical reports, presentations and publications. Assist in the development of design methodologies, engineering recommendations, and data-driven or AI-enhanced workflows for structural applications. Coordinate procurement, laboratory set-up, testing schedules, and liaison with vendors/suppliers and industry collaborators. Communicate with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables and milestones are achieved. Carry out risk assessment and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health regulations. Work independently, as well as within a multidisciplinary team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment and research facilities. Job Requirements Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline. Demonstrated knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Structural steel or aluminium structures Welding, fabrication, or construction automation Experimental structural testing and instrumentation Numerical modelling and simulation AI/data-driven methods for engineering applications Familiarity with engineering software such as ABAQUS, ETABS, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent will be an advantage. Prior experience in laboratory testing, data analysis, or industry-related engineering projects will be an advantage. Conduct insights-driven evaluations of existing QA/QC testing practices and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce redundant testing while maintaining compliance. Curate, standardize and integrate historical and statistical data to form the foundation of a structured database for construction QA/QC and traceability. Design and implement a digital chain-of-custody framework that captures assurance records including mill certificates, fabrication data, inspection results and carbon footprint information. Develop, train and validate AI models to automate QA/QC processes, enabling real-time verification, anomaly detection and consistency checks across records. Develop a cloud-based verification platform for digital data collection and real-time analytics. Develop and apply non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and data-driven approaches to determine material properties of reclaimed steel. Investigate geometric imperfections, accumulated deformations, and their impact on structural performance, particularly for compression members. Develop data-driven reusability assessment platforms integrating NDT data, machine learning models, and RFID-enabled traceability systems. Prepare and draft technical reports, conference/journal papers, and presentation materials; present research findings to internal reviews, industry partners and stakeholders. Engage with industry stakeholders throughout development, testing and refinement to ensure alignment with real-world requirements. To communicate in any relevant internal or external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor.  Job Requirements Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Civil/Construction Engineering, Engineering Systems or equivalent. Strong foundation in data engineering, AI/ML development, and software systems (e.g., data pipelines, cloud services, dashboards, web-based application development). Experience in handling real-world datasets and model development/deployment workflows. Domain expertise in building construction/civil/structural engineering, including familiarity with building management systems, software integration, data collection and analysis. Knowledge of construction QA/QC and quality control workflows (e.g., inspection processes, test documentation, traceability and compliance records) is an advantage. Strong background in structural engineering, structural mechanics, or steel structures. Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques for structural materials is desirable. Experience with structural modelling and analysis tools (e.g., finite element modelling, structural simulation) is desirable. Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams. Strong analytical and conceptual abilities; able to work both in a team and independently. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Key Competencies Proficient in Python or other equivalent programming languages. Strong foundation in data analytics and data-driven modelling.
