Mutah University is a public university in Jordan, founded in 1981 by Royal Decree as a national institution for military and civilian higher education. There are about 17,000 students and 550 academic staff, with 2,500 administrative staff. There are over 1,000 international students. The university is comprised of 14 main faculties, including agriculture, arts, business administration, Shari’a law and pharmaceutical sciences. The Faculty of Medicine was founded in 2001, with the aim of serving the southern part of Jordan. It uses Karak government hospital as its main training site, as well as using other Royal Medical Services Hospitals, including Prince Ali Military Hospital and King Hussein Medical Centre. Facilities at the medical school include a plastination department for anatomy. Mutah University also offers seven PhD programmes, 47 master's programmes, as well as some diplomas, in science, literature, languages, economics and management, geography, electrical engineering, education, law and police studies. There are also evening studies programmes, which aim to serve employees to continue their education. Master's programmes come in two types: with a thesis or without a thesis and instead with a comprehensive examination. Centres of research include the Computer Centre, the Prince Faisal Centre for Dead Sea Environmental and Energy Research, the Queen Rania Centre for Educational and Psychological Studies and the Language Centre. It contains two deanships, of scientific research and student affairs. There are three journals coming out of Mutah University: the Humanities and Social Sciences Series, the Natural and Applied Sciences Series and the Jordan Journal of Arabic Language and Literature.

The Department of Architecture (DoA) is internationally recognised as one of the world's best architectural schools. The DoA sees design thinking central of the Department’s value ecology, AI as its new frontier, while building technology as its foundation. It prides itself on providing an active and dynamic research environment. The scholars and professionals who constitute the teaching staff of the Department represent a diversity of research interests. The scale and breadth of case studies in the region offers a potential portfolio of innovative research projects and a laboratory structure which in turn provides opportunities to pool efforts, cross disciplinary boundaries and develop forums for exchange. The Department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in an intense and demanding environment, where staff members take an active part in shaping the Department's culture through both teaching and administrative responsibilities. Applicants should possess a postgraduate and professional degree in the relevant field. Preference will be given to those holding a Ph.D. degree in Architecture, Design and Technology, or an affiliated discipline, and to those who have experience in teaching and practicing in a multidisciplinary context. They should demonstrate an established record of teaching and research in advanced technology in design, and creative and interactive technologies, specialising in the intersection of artificial intelligence, Extended Reality (XR), computational design, adaptive digital fabrication and sustainable material technologies. Applicants should also have experience in developing projects on how AI and advanced technology can augment creativity and sociability as well as the ability to develop innovative computational tools, processes and theories to explore technology’s interface with and impact on human perception and experience and applying these in creative, socially meaningful responses to challenging design problems. Candidates with a Ph.D. in design research, design practice, history and theory of design and design science, history and theory of architecture with a focus on material science and culture, or material futures and design technologies, are welcome to apply. As the Department moves towards strengthening international links with academic institutions and innovators in design throughout Asia and the world, applicants who have a record of building such partnerships are encouraged to apply. Strong writing skills, as evidenced through an increasing track record of peer-reviewed publications, and grant-writing experience are also desirable, as staff are expected to pursue funding opportunities to advance their research. The appointee will conduct research, teach postgraduate and undergraduate courses, and lead a research team on related studies. The primary responsibility is to support teaching and curriculum development for the Design+ program, with an emphasis on integrating latest computational technologies into project design and delivery processes and on engaging with creative industries.Teaching assignments may include studios, lecture courses, or seminars in areas such as design, history and theory of design and technology, design thinking, AI, computation, XR applications, robotic and digital fabrication, and material futures. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to conduct applied research in the topic of Human-in-the-Loop AI perception system that leverages user concerns and identified driving scenarios to generate new and relevant driving scenes for enhancing the perception system performance for autonomous vehicles (AV). Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: Conduct the research work in Human-in-the-Loop AI perception system for autonomous driving Work with the research team, collaborators and the industry partner to design the framework of the proposed solution Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment Job Requirement Have relevant competence in the areas of Deep Learning/Computer Vision. The experience in diffusion models is a plus. Have a PhD degree in computer science/engineering or related disciplines. Knowledge of autonomous vehicles or cyber security will be advantageous. Have strong research record, preferably on top-tier computer science/engineering conferences.
