Mutah University is a public university in Jordan, founded in 1981 by Royal Decree as a national institution for military and civilian higher education. There are about 17,000 students and 550 academic staff, with 2,500 administrative staff. There are over 1,000 international students. The university is comprised of 14 main faculties, including agriculture, arts, business administration, Shari’a law and pharmaceutical sciences. The Faculty of Medicine was founded in 2001, with the aim of serving the southern part of Jordan. It uses Karak government hospital as its main training site, as well as using other Royal Medical Services Hospitals, including Prince Ali Military Hospital and King Hussein Medical Centre. Facilities at the medical school include a plastination department for anatomy. Mutah University also offers seven PhD programmes, 47 master's programmes, as well as some diplomas, in science, literature, languages, economics and management, geography, electrical engineering, education, law and police studies. There are also evening studies programmes, which aim to serve employees to continue their education. Master's programmes come in two types: with a thesis or without a thesis and instead with a comprehensive examination. Centres of research include the Computer Centre, the Prince Faisal Centre for Dead Sea Environmental and Energy Research, the Queen Rania Centre for Educational and Psychological Studies and the Language Centre. It contains two deanships, of scientific research and student affairs. There are three journals coming out of Mutah University: the Humanities and Social Sciences Series, the Natural and Applied Sciences Series and the Jordan Journal of Arabic Language and Literature.

In November 2024, the University of Hong Kong LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) was appointed as the operator of GBAICTI. In December 2025, the Real-World Study and Application Centre (RWSAC) was established under GBAICTI to open up local health and medical databases and promote collaboration between Hong Kong and other GBA cities. We are now seeking a high-calibre professional to join the RWSAC (located at Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone) as Chief Data Scientist. Duties and Responsibilities Report to Director (RWSAC) and lead the scientific and methodological core of the RWSAC. Provide scientific leadership in the design, execution, and analysis of real-world evidence (RWE) studies. Oversee the development and validation of the common data model and the data integration platform for use in healthcare research. Ensure analytical methodologies are robust, reproducible, and compliant with relevant regulatory guidelines. Lead the exploration and application of innovative analytical approaches. Manage a team of data scientists and business intelligence (BI) professionals, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous methodological improvement. Collaborate with the Data Scientist (AI) to integrate advanced AI/ML techniques into the RWE generation pipeline.  Requirements PhD degree in Epidemiology, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Informatics or related disciplines. Preferably a minimum of 5 years’ experience in epidemiology, data management, programming and statistics at supervisory level. Proficiency in SQL, Python/R, or similar tools; experience with big data platforms, machine learning, and data warehousing. Commitment to quality, integrity, confidentiality and compliance. Excellent leadership, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholders’ management skills. Detail-oriented, able to handle multiple concurrent tasks and self-motivated. A good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including both Cantonese and Putonghua). The School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University is seeking applicants to fill three Tutor/Senior Tutor positions to join our teaching team developing material for the Joint Education Institute (JEI) with Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU), China. These three positions are fixed term, three-year, opportunities that are part of a cluster hire in plant and horticulture science and agri-business. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role The purpose of these positions is to support and contribute to teaching within the disciplines of Horticultural and Plant Science and Agribusiness, with a particular focus on undergraduate education. These positions sit within a cluster of hires that will form part of a new collaborative Joint Education Institute (JEI) program between the School of Agriculture and Environment (SAE) at Massey University in New Zealand and Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU), Yangling, China. The language of instruction will be English and each role includes: With appropriate SAE Manawatu and JEI based academic staff, help create material and curricula for the courses to be taught at NWAFU as part of the JEI. This will be based on existing educational material from our current SAE undergraduate courses taught at the Manawatu campus and adapted to be fit-for-purpose in a Chinese learning context. Develop and co-develop, with current staff, online digital learning resources such as technical guides, fact sheets, short demonstration videos, self-assessment quizzes, interactive modules and laboratory materials and worksheets for the JEI students for whom English will be a second language. The resources need to be pitched at the appropriate level for these learners. Develop and populate individual online learning sites, based on the Massey University STREAM platform for each JEI course, and update as required once developed. Adapt the existing and newly created curriculum for each course from its current 12-week semester structure to NWAFU's 16-week teaching semester. This body of work will ensure that course content, learning activities, and assessments are appropriately aligned with the extended teaching period. Support the teaching JEI staff based at NWAFU to ensure that learning material is fit for purpose and contribute to the ongoing cycle of learning resource review and refresh within the online learning environment. Contribute to feedback, evaluation, and revision processes under the supervision of both Manawatu based SAE and JEI staff after the courses are first taught. Help implement any changes required, which may require some travel. The main role of the post holder will be to carry out experimental based research on PET depolymerisation into monomer chemicals using mechanochemistry, developing research expertise and portfolios in this emerging field towards a circular plastic economy. This interdisciplinary project is in close collaboration with academics in University of Birmingham, Imperial College London and Queen's University of Belfast, and companies in the waste management and plastic production sectors. By participating in the stakeholder engagement, the post holder will gain great insight in the plastic chemical recycling field, and development their professional network and career growth. The main project objectives are: Design efficient nanoscale catalysts and robust mechanochemical process to recycle PET into monomer feedstocks. Benchmark different mechanochemical reaction systems for kinetics and parameter translation. Understand the depolymerisation mechanism using advanced characterisation for further catalyst discovery and process engineering. About you he successful candidate should hold or about to receive a PhD in Material Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. S/he should have a strong background in experimental catalyst design, characterisation and testing. Prior knowledge of mechanochemistry, polymer chemistry and physics, plastic chemical recycling is especially welcomed.
