The Cebu Technological University was formerly known as the Cebu State College of Science and Technology. It gained university status in 2009. There is one main campus and 13 extension campuses across the Cebu province of the Philippines in cities including Argao, Bantayan and Naga. The university has nine colleges including education, technology, engineering, arts and sciences, agriculture, fishery, forestry, veterinary medicine and nursing. The university offers a wide range of sports clubs including: archery and sepaktakraw. There are also a range of student clubs and activities for students to get involved in including photography, creative writing and the Christian Fellowship. Lots of events are arranged throughout the academic year for students to enjoy, such as the national games and national festival, where student athletes and artists have the chance to showcase their skills and talents. The university has partnerships with other higher education institutions across Japan, South Korea, the US and the Netherlands. At Cebu Technological University, students can utilitse the Career Centre to gain skills and undertake workshops to prepare themselves for the workplace.

The successful candidate will spearhead the development of novel oligonucleotide-based therapies targeting metabolic and mitochondrial dysfunction in optic nerve diseases, such as glaucoma and inherited mitochondrial disorders. This position involves advancing candidate RNA therapeutic platforms and integrating them into the Optic Nerve Research Collaborative Australia (ORCA), a national initiative focused on breakthroughs in optic nerve disease research. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of innovation in RNA technology and experience in translating novel platforms into preclinical or clinical programs.
