Your personal sphere of play: The research team of Prof Kristina Djinovic-Carugo at the University of Vienna seeks an experienced and highly motivated Postdoc in the area of structural biology. In cooperation with the research groups of Michael Wagner and Holger Daims the Djinovic Lab is involved in studies of physiology, structural biology, biochemistry, and ecology of nitrifying microorganisms with focus on complete ammonia oxidizers (comammox organisms). We are a committed team and offer an interdisciplinary scientific environment, cutting-edge laboratories, and a creative working atmosphere. We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic Postdoc in the field of structural biology and biochemistry. This position is limited to a duration of 9 months. Following this, there is an option for employment through a third-party funded project until a maximum of September 30, 2028.  About the Max Perutz Labs The Max Perutz Labs are a joint research institute of the University of Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna. They were founded in 2005 to deepen the collaboration between the two universities in the field of molecular biosciences. Around 450 scientists from over 40 nations work in 40 research groups at the institute, investigating fundamental questions in molecular and cell biology. State-of-the-art research infrastructure supports their work in basic biomedical research. Your future tasks: Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means: You are involved in a research project on the structural and biochemical characterization of selected enzymes from comammox and other nitrifying microorganisms You are involved in research projects and scientific studies. You publish internationally and give lectures. You are involved in a research project on the structural and biochemical characterization of selected enzymes from Comammox and other nitrifying microorganisms You are willing to be involved in research regarding muscle proteins (Core research area of the Djinovic lab). You supervise trainees and students. You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance. You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration. This is part of your personality: Doctoral or PhD degree (Biology, Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, Biochemistry, or similar) Experience working with a plethora of bioinformatics tools dealing with sequence and structure analysis. Excellent knowledge and experience in structural biology. Didactic competence Experience with course organization, teaching and assignments/homework preparation High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing Excellent command of written and spoken English IT user skills Ability to work both independently and in a team. Experience working with international collaboration partners and working on several projects simultaneously Additional qualification profile: Methodological competences: Practical experience in molecular cloning, expression, purification of protein complexes and their biochemical and biophysical characterization. Prior knowledge of crystallography and/or single-particle electron microscopy is an advantage. Description We are seeking researchers who are passionate about Data Science, with an emphasis in Computational Social Science, with a starting date of September 1, 2026. Some of the possible research topics include: (i) social media analysis, (ii) collaboration and teamwork, (iii) gender inequality, (iv) diversity, (v) online controlled experiments, and (vi) network science. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and hard-working with a Masters degree in Data Science, Computational Social Science, Computer Science, or Information Science, or a bachelor’s degree with several years of experience and expertise in their field. The position requires experience with at least one of the following: Data Science, Machine Learning, Computational Social Science, Big Data. Relevant skills could include statistical analysis, data management and collection, causal inference, network analysis, graph theory, visualizations, and online tool development. Experience in conducting online controlled experiments is also desired, but not required. Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential. Selected candidates will be working closely with Bedoor AlShebli, an Assistant Professor in Computational Social Science in the Social Science Division at NYUAD. The selected candidate will receive an appointment for three years. Description The Clinical Artificial Intelligence Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to improve patient care by developing new machine learning methodologies that tackle unique computational problems in healthcare applications. We use large real-world complex datasets, including data extracted from electronic health records and medical images, for applications pertaining to patient diagnostics and prognostics. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team and make significant contributions to the field. The researcher is expected to have (i) strong machine learning skills to improve model performance and robustness, and (ii) exemplary passion and motivation to pursue multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computing and healthcare. Methodologies of interest include: Multi-modal learning Foundation models, including large language models Agentic AI Multi-agent AI systems Transfer learning Self-supervised learning Federated learning The Postdoctoral Researcher will be primarily based at NYU Abu Dhabi. The researcher will report directly to Dr. Farah Shamout and work in close collaboration with other researchers, PhD students, and undergraduate research assistants. The researcher will engage with our regular collaborators across the NYU campuses and local medical institutions in the UAE. Key Responsibilities Research Support the supervisor in developing and implementing the research agenda; Conduct high-quality and innovative research primarily focused on ML methodology development for healthcare; Generate new high-impact ideas based on gaps and limitations of the state-of-the-art (SOTA); Design and implement experiments to compare proposed work with SOTA baselines; Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences; Communicate and present research findings at international academic gatherings; Create, maintain, and document high-quality research code for reproducibility; Maintain good practice in managing and accessing sensitive medical datasets; Assist the supervisor in the preparation of grant applications (as appropriate); And collaborate with scientists within the NYU Global Network and in Abu Dhabi.
