The American University of Nigeria offers international degree programmes to undergraduate and graduate students. The university was founded in Yola, Northeast Nigeria by former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, after he approached the American University in Washington DC for advice on establishing an American-inspired university in Nigeria. It was in 2007 that the institution gained its current name, and the first class of students graduated in 2009. There are five main faculties at the university: arts and sciences, business and entrepreneurship, engineering, information technology and computing and law. In addition, the graduate school offers flexible programmes that allow busy professionals to gain advanced degrees in their specialised fields. Through student activities, leadership development experiences, athletics, student governance, and other extra-curricular programs, the student affairs team provides students with opportunities to enjoy their free time, develop their skillset, and meet new people.

The Role The School seeks to appoint a two-year Career Development Fellow in French & Francophone Studies. Applications are welcome from those working in all areas of French & Francophone literary and cultural studies, and we are especially interested to receive applications from those with specialisms in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. In line with institutional expectations for Career Development Fellowships, your time will be divided between the three core activities of teaching (60%), research (30%) and citizenship (10%). The post offers an exciting opportunity to develop internationally excellent research/scholarship and teaching while providing unrivalled, tailored support for your career progression at an exciting and progressive institution. Given the developmental nature of the role it is not anticipated that the post will be extended beyond the initial fixed term of two years. Following the end of the term, the role-holder will be in a strong position to apply for relevant permanent academic roles, should they arise, at Durham or elsewhere. Successful applicants are normally expected to be within 8 years of completing their PhD, although career breaks for parental leave and/or health reasons will be considered. This is because the role is aimed at early career academics who would benefit from a structured development programme and provision of both formal and 'on the job' training. The post is also open to those who are returning to academia after a career in another sector. Successful applicants will ideally be in post by 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Description The Center for Interacting Urban Networks, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to support the project LANDMark on research on land economics, in any of the following areas: Measurement of land prices, with a focus on imputation techniques Land value determinants: public infrastructures (transport, health, and education services) Macroeconomic stability and instability in the presence of land as a fixed, non-produced asset Taxation of land wealth as an alternative to the consumption tax and the capital tax The political economy of land and its taxation Land, fixed resources, and political conflict The successful applicant will contribute to the research centered on any of these themes. The qualified candidate will have a Ph.D. in economics or another quantitative field with no more than five years from receipt of the degree, and an appetite for working on interdisciplinary teams. This position requires: Research experience in the mentioned areas of land (in a broad sense, including housing, macroeconomics, labor, urban, spatial economics, political economy, and conflict). Excellent communication skills in English. Associations and collaborative research funding projects with researchers in Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, and Political Science are encouraged. We seek to appoint a Senior Genomics Technician, to join our team. Position Overview: The Senior Technical Officer will work in the BRF Genotyping team. The appointee will work closely with other group members on an NGS amplicon genotyping service screening genetically modified mice and other amplicon and ecogenomics services for ANU, BPA and other external clients. They will be responsible for PCR and amplicon library preparation utilising high end liquid handling automation, data generation and handling. This position requires experience in molecular biology, and a high level of organisational skills, attention to detail as well as strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with other team members, students and academics on a range of bioscience research topics. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. About the project: Difficulties in swallowing or chewing affect millions worldwide, especially among the elderly. We are currently conducting a research project to develop transitional foods which can make a positive impact on the quality of life for those with swallowing difficulties.  This research position works closely with a multidisciplinary team of project investigators. We invite outstanding and talented candidates who are passionate about making a difference and have a strong desire to enhance their R&D competencies to apply. The primary role of this position is in the area of materials characterisation, focusing specifically on how foods break down due to oral forces and the effects of moisture and temperature. The work encompasses both experimental studies and modelling (finite element simulations). This position requires a strong aptitude in materials engineering, mechanics and data analysis. Key Responsibilities: Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Conduct materials testing to characterise the mechanical and dissolution behaviour of foods Develop models based on micromechanical and macroscopic properties Document, publish and present research findings Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
