Eye-Catching Array of Local, Regional, and International Collaborations: The University of Sharjah Is Conducting Research with around 4000 Collaborating Institutions according to the SciVal’s Statistics (2023)
We Work to Enhance the scale and impact of research partnerships. We collaborate with partners whose research interests and values align with our own and who share our commitment to high-quality and impactful research.
Collaboration with local, regional, and international partners in the field of scientific research is one of the cornerstones of the University of Sharjah’s research strategy, which is premised on the consolidation of partnerships with national, regional, and international organizations and institutions. With more than two hundred active national and international partnerships, the university has a far-reaching multilateral outlook, encompassing several types of research collaborations and activities in a multitude of disciplines, including sciences, health and medicine, engineering, architecture, business studies, arts, law, space sciences, humanities, and social sciences.
Over the past nine years or so, the University of Sharjah (UOS) has worked through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies and its three research institutes to build and consolidate cooperation and partnership agreements with various national and international universities, institutions, and bodies to advance and promote collaborative research projects in various scientific areas. These projects will ultimately serve the local and international communities, and actively contribute to the economic and social development in the United Arab Emirates, the region, and the world.
On the international level, the UOS is conducting and publishing research with around 4000 institutions across the globe. The University shares strong commitment with partners towards research excellence and internationalization and it has the honor to collaborate with famous global organizations and institutes, such as the Massachusetts’ Institute of Technology, Harvard Medical School, Gottingen University, Desert Research Institute, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Renewable Energy Research Center, Algeria, Arizona State University, University of Leicester, Skoltech Institute of Science and Technology, International Atomic Energy Agency, and others.
On the national level, The University of Sharjah fulfills its core mission by serving the local community and the UAE through its diverse community-engaged research programs and activities. The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies works to accomplish this goal by leveraging the university's research potentials and strategies to cultivate mutually beneficial partnerships that address significant issues in the local community and lead to dynamic community-university initiatives. To this end, the University has signed numerous collaborative agreements with local organizations and partners to conduct collaborative research projects that would benefit both the emirate of Sharjah and the UAE. Examples of collaborative agreements include signed memoranda with Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center, National Center of Meteorology & Seismology, Hamdan Award for Medical Research, Sharjah Education Council, Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, Arab Family Organization, Sharjah Police Research Center, Abu Dhabi family Development Foundation, Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, and others.
