With a history tracing back to 1881, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) is the second oldest medical school in Pakistan and the oldest in Sindh.

Originally established as the Sindh Medical School and later upgraded to a medical college in 1942 (Sindh Medical College), it attained full university status in 2001 and was renamed Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences.

The university aims to become a top-tier healthcare institution, producing academic leaders, medical researchers, and healthcare advocates to serve the global community.

Situated in Jamshoro, a city in Sindh, Pakistan, and the capital of Jamshoro District, it is located on the right bank of the Indus River, approximately 18km northwest of Hyderabad. Jamshoro is renowned as the "Education City" as it hosts four major universities in Sindh.

Academically, the university encompasses five faculties: medicine and allied sciences, surgery and allied sciences, basic medical sciences, community and public health sciences, and dentistry. Each faculty includes various departments offering a range of undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.

The university is dedicated to its mission of creating an ideal learning environment, promoting modern scientific practices, and imparting critical knowledge, analytical skills, and professional dedication among healthcare students, underpinned by virtuous professional, moral, and ethical standards.
