The Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship is a New Zealand government scholarship, providing funding for students wishing to study in the island nation.
The scholarships are open to students from selected countries in the Pacific and Asia. Students can check if they are eligible to apply here.
An applicant’s study programme will need to be related to their country’s human resource and development needs. After the programme is complete, students will be expected to return home to make a positive difference in their home countries.
The scholarship includes full tuition fees, a living allowance, an establishment allowance, medical insurance and travel to and from your own country and New Zealand. Postgraduate students are also offered research and thesis costs.
Applications opened on 1st March 2026 and will close on 31st March 2026.
All eight of New Zealand’s universities are ranked in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Students can apply online using the online portal here. Students are also able to apply to multiple scholarships to study in New Zealand at the same time using the online portal.
