RAEson to be fearful

UUK had clearly ruffled feathers by appointing Eric Thomas,Jone of the most booming opponents of the research assessment exercise, to the chair of its research strategy group. Although Professor Thomas was careful to make some almost positive comments about the RAE, there was audible huffing from some v-cs when he stood up to give Education Secretary Alan Johnson the consensus view on the future of funding.
