Human Rights Watch has awarded one of 28 annual Hellman/Hammett grants to Serbian professor Svetlana Slapsak. Professor Slapsak was active in the peace movement and, when the Bosnian war broke out, was fired as a traitor. She was later denounced as a Serbian spy for organising a women's peace group.
