About

Doctoral Study Program in Dental Science by research is home to high-quality discovery research. We offer learning opportunities to the students that can enrich their research experiences. The program brings together people who work on research related to dental science. The students will work with others who share a passion for discovering new knowledge in dental science, including regenerative dentistry, clinical and evidence-based practice, dental public health and primary health care. The students will work with experts, access facilities, and engage in a supportive learning environment. 


Overview

Doctoral Study Program in Dental Science by research is aimed to develop students’ independent research skills. Our curriculum is designed to facilitate students’ critical understanding of theories, rigorous research methodologies and research dissemination in dental science. We aim to discover new scientific theories, concepts, and models through advanced research. We have received national and international recognition for our research and scientific publications.

Course details

Doctoral Study Program in Dental Science by research requires the students to complete a research dissertation in 3 years. The students may undertake any area of research related to dental science, including regenerative dentistry, clinical and evidence-based practice, dental public health and primary health care. The students need to complete two topic seminars relevant to the student’s research focus (2-semester credit units), a qualification examination (1-semester credit units), a Research proposal (6-semester credit units), an international seminar (2-semester credit units), international scientific publication (6-semester credit units), research progress examination (2-semester credit units), dissertation eligibility examination (4-semester credit units), closed dissertation examination (14-semester credit units), and open dissertation examination (6-semester credit units). The activities, which have a total study load of 44 semester credit units, are designed to provide students with the research skills they will need in their future careers.


Entry requirements

Applicant should have IPK or GPA  ≥ 3.0 with linear scientific fields, i.e. dental science (dentist, dental hygienist, dental therapist). Applicant should also propose pre-proposal plan includes title, introduction (background, problem formulation, research objectives and benefits), literature review, hypothesis, research materials and methods, bibliography, research budget).

Career outcomes

The student declared to have passed entitled to an academic title of Doctor of Dental Science/ Doktor (Dr.). 

As of the end of December 2021, the study program has graduated three alumni who have successful careers as researchers, lecturers, managers or leaders in educational institutions/universities or institutes.
