THE pairwise comparison prize draw terms and conditions

  1. The THE pairwise comparison prize draw is open to anyone who completes and submits eight university comparisons before 23.59 GMT on 30 September 2019.
  2. You must be over 18 to enter.
  3. This prize draw is void where prohibited.
  4. We will only accept one entry to the prize draw per person.
  5. Employees or agencies of Tes Global Ltd. (‘Tes’), its group companies and affiliates or their family members, or anyone else connected with the THE pairwise comparison prize draw may not enter the THE pairwise comparison prize draw. If you have any questions about how to enter, or in connection with the THE pairwise comparison prize draw, please email us at membership@timeshighereducation.com with ‘THE pairwise comparison prize draw’ in the subject line.
  6. The closing date of the THE pairwise comparison prize draw is 23.59 GMT on 30 September 20198.
  7. Anyone who submits the survey after this time will not be entered into the prize draw.
  8. One winner will be chosen from a random draw of entries received in accordance with these terms and conditions. The draw will be performed by a random process by 10th October 2019.
  9. A donation of £250 will be made on behalf of the winner to the Scholar Rescue Fund.

  11. The winners must respond to THE by email to claim their prize. If a winner does not respond to THE within four days of being notified by THE, or if a winner rejects their prize, or their entry is invalid or in breach of these terms and conditions, then they shall forfeit their prize and THE shall be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above. THE retains the right to withdraw the prize if three potential prize winners have been contacted and not responded within the allotted timeframe.
  12. Proof of posting or emailing cannot be accepted as proof of responding by prize winners. THE cannot accept responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of, or unauthorised access to prize claims, or prize claims lost or delayed whether or not arising during operation or transmission as a result of server functions, virus, bugs or other causes outside its control.
  13. All decisions are final. The prize must be accepted as awarded.
  14. The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and is not redeemable for other prizes.
  15. THE accepts no responsibility for any costs associated with the prize and not specifically included in the prize.
  16. THE retains the right to substitute the prize with another prize or prizes of similar value in the event that the original prize offered is not available.
  17. The name, city and country of the winner can be obtained after 10th October 2019 by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to the following address: Times Higher Education Subscriptions department, 26 Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4HQ, England.
  18. Entry to the THE pairwise comparison prize draw is conditional on acceptance of these terms and conditions. By entering the THE pairwise comparison prize draw, you are deemed to have read and accepted these terms.
  19. THE shall use and take care of any personal information you supply to it as described in its privacy policy, a copy of which can be seen at tes.com/privacy-policy and in accordance with data protection legislation. By entering theTHE pairwise comparison prize draw, you agree to the collection, retention, usage and distribution of your personal information in order to process and contact you about your prize draw entry.
  20. THE accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the THE pairwise comparison prize draw and/or accepting a prize. THE further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to you or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participation in, or downloading any materials in connection with, the THE pairwise comparison prize draw. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude the liability of THE for death, personal injury, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation as a result of its negligence.
  21. THE reserves the right at any time, and from time to time, to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this prize draw with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). This includes extending the closing date of the THE pairwise comparison prize draw by 3 weeks. The decision of THE in all matters under its control is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  22. THE shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
  23. The THE pairwise comparison prize draw will be governed by English law and entrants to the prize draw submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
