Royal Statistical Society
Anthony Ledford, department of mathematics and statistics at the University of Surrey, was presented with the society's research prize, awarded for an outstanding original contribution to statistical theory or application as shown in a work published in open literature.
International Pharmaceutical Federation
The federation's Lifetime Achievement in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Award 1998 has been presented to Bill Bowman, emeritus professor of physiology and pharmacology at the University of Strathclyde.
