关于 An-Najah National University

Founded in 1977, An-Najah National University is now the largest university in Palestine. Its history can be traced back to 1918 when An-Najah was established as a primary school. In 1941 the institution became An-Najah College and then in 1977 it was granted university status.

The university offers both undergraduate and graduate courses. It is home to 13 faculties, which include agriculture, veterinary medicine, engineering, information technology, pharmacy, science and fine arts among others.

There are four campuses at the university, as well as the An-Najah Hospital, which promotes the importance of healthcare in Palestinian society. The Old Campus is home to four of the university’s faculties and has a number of important administration buildings. Constructed in 2000, the New Campus boasts a range of modern facilities including a state-of-the-art library and a specialised media centre. The Hijjawi Campus is the university’s technology and engineering hub, while the Khadouri Campus is the centre of agricultural studies; housing a cow shed, chicken coops and vast land.

Students have the opportunity to participate in a range of clubs and activities organised by the university. The An-Najah’s Band for Folk Arts hosts a number of national and religious events throughout the year. The university’s drama group travels to Algeria, Jordan and Morocco to perform at various drama festivals. The university hopes that by participating in these recreational activities its students will develop valuable life skills and engage with the local community.

The university works with the local Palestinian community, to create sustainable projects, to increase knowledge of the culture on a global scale.
