About Babol Noshirvani University of Technology

Basic information and contact details for Babol Noshirvani University of Technology

Known for its spectacular scenery, Babol Noshirvani University of Technology is a co-educational public research university in Babol, 20km from the Mazandaran Sea (Caspian Sea). It is the only technological university in northern Iran. Founded in 1970, it was originally known as the Technical Teachers Training Institute of Babol, and was intended to train students into technical instructors in the various fields of engineering. It was joined to the University of Mazandaran in 1979, and renamed a College of Engineering, before regaining some independence and being renamed as Noshirvani Institute of Technology (Babol Noshiravani Technical and Educational Complex), before gaining status as its own university with its current name in 2008. The major faculties of the university include Basic Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The 11-hectare campus is spread over three buildings, housing four engineering departments and several laboratories, as well as a 750-seat amphitheatre. Bound by the Caspian Sea in the north, the province of Mazandaran is also bordered by the rugged and snowcapped Alborz mountains in the south, giving it a temperate climate, with lush plains, wide prairies and dense forests. The Middle East’s highest peak, the Damavand volcano, is located in the Alborz sierra, as well as several expansive national parks. The city of Babol, capital of Babol County, to the north-east of Tehran, is built on the remains of the ancient city of Mamatir, and is the region’s chief centre. Known as the “city of orange blossoms” for its orange farms, it is mountainous in the north and contains many monuments, such as the ruins of the 17th century Shah Abbas I’s palace.

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU)

United Kingdom, Liverpool

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today. An opportunity has arisen in the central Safety, Health and Environment Department at Liverpool John Moores University for an Event Safety Coordinator. There are between 1000 and 1200 events on university premises each year, varying in size from small meetings to larger gatherings with external visitors, or events run by external organisations. The role will affect any Professional Service or Faculty that is planning to hold events on university premises. Event safety will be the primary responsibility of this position; as such it will be the custodian of the health and safety elements of the event management process. Working collaboratively with other colleagues, you will have an important part to play in the planning, setting up, execution and review of events for the benefit of the university community and our visitors. The role will be crucial in helping the university discharge its responsibilities under Martyn’s Law (Terrorism Protection of Premises Act 2025) and its recent Guidance, as well as focusing on arrangements for fire safety and first aid at events. You will have the responsibility for horizon-scanning, reviewing, updating, and consulting on policy. To be successful, the role requires credibility. You will be expected to attend Faculty and Professional Services Management meetings, deliver training, deliver presentations to a senior level within the organisation and to have a level of gravitas in their approach. Similarly, you will need to be resilient. There will inevitably be occasions where event requests will be turned down, and decisions may be challenged by colleagues in senior positions. With support from the Director, Safety, Health and Environment, the post-holder needs to be confident in their decision-making.  In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies. This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do. If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you. LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential. Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
