University of Cambridge - State school applications up

九月 11, 2008

More students from state schools and colleges are being admitted to the University of Cambridge. Preliminary application and admissions figures show that this year 59 per cent of home students were from the maintained sector, compared with 55 per cent last year. The university reported the highest proportion of maintained-sector admissions since 1981, with applications from this sector up by 4.4 per cent. Geoff Parks, director of admissions for the Cambridge colleges, said: "These figures are very encouraging - especially since the applications for this round would have been made prior to the introduction of our most recent measures aimed at removing potential barriers to applicants."
