Moving accounts from women who survived years of domestic abuse feature in a new book, the first long-term study of its kind in 30 years. Hilary Abrahams, an honorary research Fellow at the University of Bristol's Centre for Gender and Violence Research, followed the lives of 12 women over seven years to trace the effects of living in a refuge. The study, published in the book Rebuilding Lives after Domestic Violence: Understanding Long-Term Outcomes, highlights the importance of emotional and practical support for victims.
