University College Dublin - New species discovered

一月 8, 2009

Scientists have discovered what may be two previously unknown species of extinct animals, during a month-long expedition to the Sahara desert. The expedition was led by Nizar Ibrahim, a palaeontologist from University College Dublin, accompanied by scientists from the University of Portsmouth and Casablanca's Universite Hassan II. The team discovered a large segment of beak from a flying reptile and a bone, more than a metre long, from a previously unknown sauropod. The animals would have lived almost 100 million years ago. Both fossils were found in Morocco, near the Algerian border.
