HSBC has promised £30 million to three environmental charities in what is said to be the biggest single charitable donation by any UK company. Do companies think long and hard before dishing out £30 million to good causes? You bet. Corporate social and environmental responsibility is now considered sufficiently complex to deserve its own academic journal.
