Newfoundland's Supreme Court has overturned a C$839,400 (£355,000) award for negligence against the Memorial University of Newfoundland imposed after an academic overlooked a footnote in a thesis and reported the author as a suspected child abuser. The court found that the academics did not act without reasonable cause.
