Students who help others are also helping themselves, the results of a survey suggest. Research undertaken by Imperial College London's Volunteer Centre shows that volunteering can enhance people's skills such as working in a team, problem solving and communication skills. More than 80 per cent of respondents said that their confidence in their own abilities increased as a result of volunteering, and 96 per cent agreed that volunteering through the centre improved their experience at university through meeting people from different backgrounds and being part of the local community.
