Baby on board

Increased government support for low-income families with children has coincided with a rise in births among those who left school at 16, a study by the University of Bristol has shown. According to Bristol's Centre for Market and Public Organisation, the probability of having a baby was 1.2 per cent greater for women with low levels of education. This equates to about 45,000 more births in the UK per year. The study suggests that changes in the support structure have made it more economically attractive to have children.
