Letter: Hidden assets 1

十一月 23, 2001

As an administrator, I was delighted, at last, to read something about the admin side of higher education ("Underpaid, overlooked", THES , November 16).

But I take issue with the term "non-academic" staff. It is patronising and insulting. It implies that these staff have no qualifications or experience and offers an excuse for their often being "underpaid" and "overlooked". "Administrative support staff" is the preferred choice. Please spread the word.
