Watson joins council

Robert Watson, chief scientific adviser to the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, joined the Council for the Natural Environment Research Council at the beginning of this month. He replaces Sir Howard Dalton, who retired at the end of September. Professor Watson was previously at the World Bank, where he was the chief scientist and senior adviser for sustainable development. He has also held senior positions at Nasa and, more recently, the White House.
