十一月 6, 2008

One of the special effects in the latest James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, a huge illuminated cube that pulsates to Latin rhythms at a party thrown by the film's villain, was designed and operated by Alistair Burleigh, visiting tutor at Newport's School of Art, Media and Design. Mr Burleigh, who graduated from the university's fine art course in 2007, has won growing recognition for his work, which combines light with sculpture. He was contacted by the film's production team after his installations were displayed in the Tent London design festival and asked to provide the "wow factor" for the film's party scene. During shooting, Mr Burleigh met the film's stars, including the current James Bond, Daniel Craig. "He's a really nice guy and it was all was very exciting, but at the end of the day it became just another job," Mr Burleigh said.
