University of Nottingham - Some symbol explanations

四月 30, 2009

The meaning of dozens of scientific equations and symbols will be explained to the public by the University of Nottingham via a video project. For the project, known as "sixty symbols", academics from across the university will translate a range of equations into plain English, shedding light on the meaning of Albert Einstein's famous equation E=mc? and explaining imaginary numbers and the Hubble constant. The broadcasts have been created by Brady Haran, the film-maker-in-residence, who has already enjoyed success with his earlier recordings, including a presentation in which Nottingham chemistry academics described the properties of elements. The videos have received almost 6 million hits on YouTube.
