University of East Anglia - Boost for Chinese translation

A Chinese translation programme to address a shortage of translators as well as a lack of Chinese works available to Western readers and vice versa has been launched by the University of East Anglia. About 40 translators will take part in pilot workshops in China developed by the UEA-based British Centre for Literary Translation. The scheme is funded by the Arts Council, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Chinese Government.
