Child obesity will be tackled in a Europe-wide campaign, with the UK's involvement led by the University of Cumbria. The three-year project is being funded by the European Union's public health programme, and will see the university work with communities in the North East of England on projects to improve diet and fitness. Among its first projects will be the creation of a library of research findings on ways to tackle child obesity, which will also provide information for a European manual on the subject.
