University of Cambridge - Floodlights get go-ahead

A decade-long battle against local residents and an astronomer who opposed plans to erect floodlights at an athletics track has been won by the University of Cambridge. Planners gave the university permission to light its track and hockey pitch, ending the dispute. The opponents, who included Roger Griffin, emeritus professor of astronomy, and residents living close to the Wilberforce Road sports ground, complained of potential light pollution.
