Un-Wellcome emails

Want a prosperous future, money-earning power and the admiration of all? Then don't contact the Wellcome Trust. The biomedical research charity has spent the past week informing people that it was not behind an email campaign offering university qualifications that used its academic domain name.

The email promised: "No required tests, classes, books or interviews. Open enrolment means that you are already accepted into this unique program. Call now to receive your diploma within days."

A spokesperson said: "The Wellcome Trust will do its utmost to stop the third party by contacting the relevant internet service providers. However, as these spammers usually jump from one ISP to the next, it will be difficult."
