Alumnus to be proud of No. 60 went to Wandsworth Technical College and made what could be regarded as a false start in life, working as an assistant cashier at Wandsworth Co-op and then as a civil service tax office assistant. But Linford Christie's more famous false starts were made last weekend, disqualifying him from his attempt to retain his 100 metres title in the Atlanta Olympics.
