Scots in talks with US college over institute

十一月 19, 1999

A Scottish development consortium has approached the University of Michigan to help create an engineering skills institute in the redundant naval base at Rosyth on the Firth of Forth.

Gavin Masterton, the Bank of Scotland's chief operating officer, chairman of the Rosyth 2000 consortium that aims to create 3,000 jobs on the site, confirmed talks were under way with Michigan.

The Rosyth base has been noted for its engineering expertise and facilities, while Michigan has world-class strengths in engineering and marine design, backed by strong links with industry. The parternship is also expected to include Scottish academic research.
