A researcher has launched a £4.5 million project to track the lives of 400 ordinary people for five years.

The Timescapes project, which is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, will examine participants' lives and relationships with friends, family, parents and partners.

"It is like walking alongside (participants) as their lives unfold," said Bren Neale of the University of Leeds School of Sociology and Social Policy, who is leading the research.
