The Diary offers its congratulations to biologists at Dundee University who, according to the Institute for Scientific Information in Philadelphia, have won more citations for their papers than scientists at any other European university over the past decade. Indeed, a 1995 paper by Dario Alessi, Ana Cuenda and Sir Philip Cohen of Dundee's School of Life Sciences is recorded as being the most highly cited piece of original research in the UK over the past ten years. In biology and biochemistry, there were .7 citations per paper originating from Dundee compared with 21.6 for Cambridge University and 19.4 for Oxford University.
