Not shaken by quake

A survey of the recent Seattle earthquake by United States journal Annals of Improbable Research produced a response from Angela Close, an archaeologist at the University of Washington, who was lecturing to 200 students when it struck.

"I realised something was going on when they began to dive under the desks."

"When it stopped, I told the students they could leave if they wished, but that I was going to continue quite the most exciting lecture on Mesopotamia I have ever given. A large lecture class with an earthquake is no more stressful than a large lecture class without an earthquake."
