King's College London/Durham - Wellcome gift to humanities

八月 7, 2008

Research linking medicine and the humanities is set to grow thanks to a funding boost. Money from the Wellcome Trust will support two new centres of excellence in the emerging field of medical humanities, with King's College London receiving £2 million and Durham University £1.8 million.

The King's Medical Humanities Centre will develop collaborations across new academic interfaces. Nursing will be linked with the disciplines of film studies and English, while medicine will be linked with the disciplines of art history and philosophy, and psychiatry will be linked with history. The centre will also offer a new MSc in medical humanities and will provide research opportunities for postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.
