The Times Higher's news editor, Phil Baty, was commended this week at the Paul Foot Awards for investigative and campaigning journalism. The first prize for the annual award, established by The Guardian newspaper and Private Eye magazine in memory of journalist Paul Foot, was shared by The Guardian's David Leigh and Rob Evans, who exposed bribery in the UK arms trade, and Deborah Wain, a Doncaster Free Press reporter who documented corruption at Doncaster Education City.
