Former jockey Tamsin Young is teaching the UK's first course in equestrian psychology, investigating how the bond between humans and horses can be used to realise a horse's maximum potential. The two-year foundation degree at Glyndwr University, formerly the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education, is run in partnership with the Welsh College of Horticulture, which has some of the country's best equestrian facilities. Ms Young, who is completing her doctoral study on the behaviour and welfare of racehorses, said equine behaviour was an expanding field. "The course looks in detail at the way horses learn and examines some of the newest training methods available," she said.
