European foundation launches research tender

三月 28, 2002

Brussels, March 2002

The European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions intends to launch a new research project on illness and inclusion. The project will examine how to drive forward the social and economic inclusion of people with long-term physical or mental illnesses. The term 'illness' refers broadly to both chronic (physical or mental) illness and disability.

In this development phase, the first overview will aim to:

- realise a glossary of concepts of not more than 10 pages;

- identify and collect documents and existing data, and produce a review of studies and literature on the scale and nature of the problems facing people with chronic illness and disability; it will focus on the links between illness as defined above and social exclusion or inclusion; the report should be no more than 35 pages, not including annexes;

- present an overview of relevant European, national and regional public policies and associated measures for social and economic integration of people with illness and disabilities with special attention to measures for insertion and retention in employment, in a report of not more than 50 pages;

- contribute to a round-table;

- present a proposal for the future activities of the Foundation of not more than 10 pages.

The coverage should be the EU and its Member States as far as the data collection and data analysis is concerned. The proposal for future activities should apply a wider European approach by considering also the situation of the candidate countries.
