Commission publishes NEST calls for proposals

The European Commission has published a call under the New and Emerging Science and Technology (NEST) section of the Sixth Framework Programme's 'Anticipating scientific and technological needs' activity. This is one of the areas covered by the 'Integrating and strengthening the European Research Area' specific programme.

The areas covered by this call are:
- ADVENTURE (STREPs): research projects, in emerging areas of knowledge and on future technologies, in particular in multidisciplinary fields, which are highly innovative and involve high (technical) risks;


- INSIGHT (STREPs): research projects aimed at assessing new discoveries and newly-observed phenomena, where the latter may indicate important potential problems or risks to society;


- NEST SUPPORT (SSAs): focused on the conceptual and practical questions associated specifically with NEST implementation;


- PATHFINDER (STREPs, CAs, SSAs): Larger-scale actions, focusing on emerging areas of science and technology that are identified, in conjunction with the scientific community, as having particular promise and/or urgency.

The total indicative budgets, by instrument, are: STREP - 58 million euro; SSA - 3 million euro; CA - 4 million euro. Proposers are advised to consult the full call text at the address below in order to find out the particular instruments requested for each area.
