The ARC programme is designed to increase collaboration and mobility, particularly among young researchers, in the United Kingdom and the Federal Republic of Germany. ARC is jointly financed and managed in Germany by The British Council and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Applications are invited in the following areas: biotechnology, genetics and genetically modified foods, bio-informatics; genetic engineering and new fields in medicine and ethical problems relating to them; agriculture and in particular industrialised agricultural production and the problems of food safety; environmental issues particularly those relating to climate change, pollution, waste disposal, water supply and desertification; information technology and particularly its impact on society; economics and issues relating to labour markets, currency issues linked to the EMU, and globalisation; science communication and public dialogue; social science projects related to any of the above areas.
