University of York - Lecturers stranded in India

三月 27, 2008

Two senior lecturers were left stranded in India for more than a month after UK visa authorities refused to allow them to fly back. Pratibha Gai and Ed Boyes of the University of York were on a trip to promote nanoscience. They were accompanied by York's vice-chancellor, Brian Cantor, but he had to return without them. The university said: "Their absence was covered by other members of staff following established procedures for such unplanned absences. It is recognised, however, that there may have been some effect on the coursework of a small number of students. Professors Gai and Boyes are now back in York."
