Nine out of ten business leaders think universities could do more to prepare students for the world of work, a survey has found. The figure was quoted by Miles Templeman, director general of the Institute of Directors, who said that 89 per cent also felt business could do more to help universities produce well-rounded graduates. Speaking at a conference on the student experience sponsored by the 1994 Group, Mr Templeman said a newly published survey by the institute suggested that employability skills needed to be better embedded in higher education.
