City University London - Help for cash-strapped students

Students at City University London who have been hit by the credit crunch are being offered financial help through a £284,000 hardship fund. Malcolm Gillies, the vice-chancellor, said: "You can't escape the current financial doom and gloom that is impacting us all, and we wanted to do something to recognise that some of our students, whether they originate from the UK, the European Union or internationally, may be hit. Previous recessions have seen students stay in education longer, and as we exist for our students, we want to ensure that their studies are not disturbed by unavoidable financial burdens."
