A £6.5 million centre for research into renewable energy is to be launched. The Energy Technologies Building at the University of Nottingham will aim to be one of the lowest-carbon buildings in Britain, and the university hopes it will attract increased attention from industry, the academy, funding agencies, researchers and students. It will be jointly funded by Nottingham and a grant from the European Regional Development Fund. Construction is due to start early next year, with a scheduled completion date of January 2012.
