A psychology lecturer has become the lord of the dance at the Edinburgh Festival with a show based on his academic research. Peter Lovatt's performance, Dance, Doctor, Dance!, is based on his work at the University of Hertfordshire, which has proved that dance is good for mood and psychological health. Dr Lovatt - who goes by the stage name Doctor Dance - invites audience participation to explain what different "funky disco moves" say about genetic and hormonal make-up. During the show's run in Edinburgh, which finishes on 28 August, he will attempt to conduct the world's largest hand-jive.
