The 23-year-old won £20,000 for her womenswear collection, taking the top prize ahead of winners in 12 other categories, including menswear, textiles and fashion journalism.

More than 300 students from 21 universities and colleges took part in 18 catwalk shows at this year's Graduate Fashion Week, held at Earls Court, London.

Sheelagh Wright, leader of the fashion management course at UCA and one of Ms Stamou's tutors, said: "In 32 years of teaching this is my proudest moment."
