It may not be everyone's idea of a relaxing day out, but a study by academics at Salford Business School suggests that opening crime scenes to the public could generate fresh views and opinions that could help the police to crack cases. The Salford study says so-called dark tourism could also raise awareness within local communities about how people can keep safe and avoid falling victim to crime. However, a series of ethical questions has been raised by the idea, and the study notes that the police fear that such visits could be disruptive to their investigations.
